Modelling languages and tools plays an important role in software development and maintenance. Since the number of UML tools on the market is growing, there is a need for some quality criteria and methods for their evaluation and comparison. This paper presents a quality model which allows multidimensional viewing of UML tools. Then, it describes a questionnaire which is helpful in conducting efficient evaluation and System for Quality Evaluation of UML Tools which was developed on the basis of the quality model. This system can be applied for selecting UML tools and analysis of the market of UML tools. Selection of UML tools is supported by searching UML tools according to the desired quality criteria and market analysis is facilitated by automatically generated statistics. The paper presents also results of the evaluation of UML tools and their classification into drawing tools, modelling tools and model-driven engineering tools.
