Hurlbut’s story of the Bible is designed as an introduction for young readers; it tells the principle stories of the Old and New Testament in a simple, understandable and engaging way.
The idea of telling the whole Bible in a manner that allows children to both enjoy and learn its contents was appealing to Hurlbut, who noted the Bible’s enduring popularity.
